The twelve short stories collected in this book are all

easy to read. Most of them build up to an unexpected

‘twist in the tail’. Apart from this, however, readers will

find that these stories have very little in common, as a

wide spectrum of themes has been incorporated.

Some of the stories are light hearted reading, whilst

others display a large degree of sensitivity and will invoke

some melancholy. Pure fantasy, with a tongue in cheek

approach, will certainly cause a few laughs. Even a subtle

ghost seeking revenge for his untimely departure from

life makes its appearance. The title story has extortion

and other crimes as its theme. A step in time is miles

removed from anything Stephen Hawking had in mind -

is a time machine really possible?

Throughout this collection, however, the author

has made an utmost effort to provide his readers with

enjoyable reading.
